Tierra Prometida Winery
Tierra Prometida is a remarkable wine project born from the collaboration between two passionate and complementary figures: Antony Terryn, founder of Dominio del Bendito in Toro in 2004 and an avid seeker of extraordinary vineyards, and José Manuel, a forestry engineer who in 2011 returned to university to complete a Master's degree in Oenology in La Rioja. Their meeting gave rise to a joint venture with El Hato y el Garabato, aimed at revealing the true potential of the Arribes Denominación de Origen, one of the most singular and authentic wine regions on the Iberian Peninsula. The estate is located in the upper part of the Duero canyon, at an altitude of 750 metres above sea level, on very poor granitic sandy soils with quartz inclusions. This demanding environment, combined with a climate slightly milder than that of the Castilian plateau, provides ideal conditions for producing wines of great character and expressiveness. Production is deliberately limited: a maximum of three bunches per vine is permitted, guaranteeing exceptional concentration and quality in every bottle. The leading varieties are the indigenous Bruñal and Juan García, complemented by Garnacha and small contributions of Syrah, a variety that adds freshness and an international touch. The harvest is entirely manual, with rigorous bunch selection carried out in the vineyard. After fermentation, the wines are aged for ten months in used French oak barrels of 225 and 500 litres, allowing a gradual evolution without masking the identity of the terroir. The philosophy of Tierra Prometida can be summed up as embracing tradition while remaining open to innovation: respecting the viticultural legacy of Arribes while incorporating external techniques and perspectives that enrich the final result. The wines stand out for their elegance, aromatic complexity, and a genuinely Atlantic-granitic character that sets them apart within the Spanish wine landscape.
