Nose

Delicate white blossom and fresh stone fruit — white peach and apricot — underpinned by a clean, stony minerality that evokes the limestone terraces of Laudun with precision and subtlety.

Palate

Round and fruit-forward on entry, with a generous mouthfeel and good mid-palate richness; crisp acidity keeps the wine lively and focused, while a mineral thread runs throughout, adding structure and depth.

Finish

Long and distinctly saline, almost briny, with a lingering mineral persistence that refreshes the palate and reinforces the terroir-driven character of this elegant southern Rhône white.

DecantingNot necessary

The Ferraton Laudun Les Remparts White 2024 is a terroir-driven expression from one of the southern Rhône's most exciting new crus, the AOP Côtes du Rhône Villages Laudun, produced on the ancient limestone terraces of the Camp de César in the Gard department. Crafted by the celebrated Ferraton Père & Fils — a house with deep roots in biodynamic viticulture and more than 100 wines rated above 90 points by Robert Parker — Les Remparts is a benchmark for what this appellation can achieve with white varieties.

The blend brings together Grenache Blanc (70%), Clairette (20%) and Bourboulenc (10%), a classic Laudun assemblage that balances weight, aromatics and freshness in equal measure. The wine is aged on fine lees in tank and bottled in late winter to lock in precision and energy, resulting in a structured yet approachable white at 14% vol.

The bouquet is immediately expressive: white blossom and stone fruit lead the nose, layered over a clean, stony minerality that speaks directly of the calcareous soils below. On the palate, the mouthfeel is round and fruit-forward from the first sip, with a mid-palate richness supported by lively acidity and a persistent mineral thread. The finish is long and distinctly saline — almost briny — an elegant signature of the finest Laudun blancs.

For those looking to buy Laudun white wine online or explore premium southern Rhône whites beyond Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Les Remparts delivers sophistication at an accessible price point. It pairs beautifully with grilled sea bass, steamed shellfish, Provençal-herb risotto or a selection of soft and semi-aged cheeses. Equally compelling as a standalone aperitif.

Available now at Mercado 46 with European delivery, this is a wine that captures the Mediterranean soul of the southern Rhône with clarity and finesse — a must-try from one of the valley's most trusted producers.

The Winery

Founded in 1946

Ferraton Père & Fils is a historic wine estate founded in 1946 by Jean Örens Ferraton in the heart of Tain l'Hermitage, in the Northern Rhône Valley. Its humble origins began with a plot of just 0.3 hectares in Hermitage, from which the family patiently built a project of great prestige. In the late 1960s, Michel Ferraton expanded the domaine's vineyards within the Hermitage appellation, consolidating the estate's reputation. In the 1990s, the family partnership was formalised under the name Ferraton Père & Fils, and in 1998 a decisive milestone occurred: an alliance with Michel Chapoutier, who provided technical expertise and financial support to undertake the transition to organic and, subsequently, biodynamic viticulture. In 2004, Chapoutier acquired the company in full, though the estate continues to operate independently under the direction of Samuel Ferraton, preserving its own identity and philosophy. Biodynamics is the soul of Ferraton Père & Fils. All the domaine's vineyards are managed in harmony with lunar rhythms and natural cycles, without synthetic chemicals, with the aim of preserving soil vitality and faithfully expressing the terroir of each individual parcel. Syrah is the signature variety of their reds, offering aromas of dark fruit, violet, spices and leather, with elegant tannins and an extraordinary ageing potential. Their whites, crafted from Marsanne and Roussanne, combine floral notes, minerality and richness. Among their most acclaimed cuvées are the Hermitage "Le Méal", produced from old-vine Syrah on steep granitic hillside soils, the Crozes-Hermitage "La Matinière" and the Saint-Joseph Blanc "La Source". The estate produces wines across prestigious appellations including Hermitage, Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Cornas, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône. Their wines boast over 100 references awarded more than 90 points by critics such as Parker and Wine Spectator.
