Nose
Expressive and fruit-forward bouquet of raspberries, blueberries, ripe plum and blackberry. Nuances of liquorice, dried violet and a gentle balsamic lift complement subtle oak-derived spice and light toast.
Palate
Full-bodied yet vibrant, with a lively mouthfeel and crisp acidity that keeps the wine fresh and balanced. Structured tannins are firm but well-integrated, underpinning the rich fruit core with elegance.
Finish
Long and lingering, with persistent dark fruit, a whisper of warm spice and a refreshing mineral note that speaks to the high-altitude terroir of the estate vineyards.
Naluar Red 2022 is the purest expression of what Ribera del Duero can offer when two passionate winemakers step back and let the vineyard speak. Rafael García and Raúl Tamayo founded their small-scale project in Nava de Roa in 2011, farming just four hectares of estate vines spread across nine parcels at elevations between 750 and 830 metres above sea level. The extreme continental climate — scorching summers, freezing winters and dramatic diurnal swings — slows ripening and locks in the freshness and varietal character that define this wine.
Made entirely from Tinta Fina (Tempranillo), Naluar 2022 is aged for twelve months in second- and third-use American and French oak barrels of 225 and 500 litres, followed by a further eighteen months of bottle rest. The use of older, neutral oak is a conscious choice: the fruit and terroir take centre stage, with wood playing a supporting role. This minimal-intervention philosophy extends from the vine to the cellar — a commitment to honest, place-specific winemaking that has earned Naluar 93 points from Tim Atkin MW.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, vivid ruby. The bouquet is expressive and fruit-forward: fresh raspberries, blueberries and ripe blackcurrant lead, with plum and blackberry adding depth. Subtle notes of liquorice, dried violet and a gentle balsamic lift complete a complex nose. On the palate, the mouthfeel is vibrant and structured — full-bodied yet refreshing, with crisp acidity that keeps the wine lively. The tannins are present but well-integrated, and the finish is long and persistent with lingering dark fruit and a whisper of spice from the oak.
A food-friendly red that pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, lamb, game, charcuterie and aged cheeses. For those looking to buy authentic Ribera del Duero online or discover the best Tempranillo wines from Spain, Naluar 2022 is a compelling choice — age-worthy, terroir-driven and crafted with genuine purpose.

The Winery
Founded in 2011
Rafael García y Raúl Tamayo is a small yet highly ambitious winery project founded in 2011 in Nava de Roa, in the heart of the Ribera del Duero Denomination of Origin. Its two creators, devoted viticulturists and winemakers, chose to work with family-owned vineyards to build an artisanal estate guided by a minimalist philosophy. From the very beginning, both partners took full hands-on responsibility for every task in the vineyard and the cellar, giving the project a level of authenticity and coherence that is truly rare. The winery's viticultural patrimony is modest yet extraordinarily precious: just 4 hectares spread across 9 tiny plots, planted at altitudes ranging from 750 to 830 metres above sea level. Among these small treasures stands Acediano, a vineyard over 70 years old that embodies the full depth and memory of the terroir. The extreme continental climate, with sharp temperature contrasts between day and night, encourages a slow ripening process that yields wines of great freshness, balance and varietal character, with Tinta Fina — Tempranillo — as the leading grape. The winemaking philosophy rests on minimal intervention, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, with the aim of preserving the biodiversity of the vines and faithfully expressing the soils and environments in which the grapes are grown. Oak plays a secondary role, used solely as a refining element, always allowing the fruit and the primary expression of the terroir to take centre stage. Production is limited to approximately 17,000 bottles, distributed across their main wines: Naluar, Naluar El Espaldón and Acediano. The latter has garnered extraordinary international acclaim, earning scores such as 96 from Tim Atkin, 96 from Peñín, 95 Parker points and 17.5 from Jancis Robinson, establishing itself as one of the most exciting references in contemporary Ribera del Duero.
