Langhe DOC Nebbiolo offers one of the most compelling entry points into the world of Piedmont's noble Nebbiolo grape. Less monumental than Barolo or Barbaresco, yet no less expressive, these wines deliver the full aromatic signature of the variety — dried roses, wild cherry, tar and subtle earthiness — with a lighter frame and earlier accessibility. The Langhe hills provide ideal conditions for terroir-driven winemaking, and the results are wines with vibrant acidity, fine grippy tannins and a rewarding finish. At Mercado 46, we source from producers who truly understand the grape, offering bottles that speak authentically of their place.

The Langhe DOC appellation sits at the heart of Piedmont's finest wine country, encompassing the celebrated hillside communes around Alba and Barolo. Nebbiolo grown here for the Langhe DOC designation offers a more approachable expression of this famously demanding variety — the tannins are present and structured, but the wines are typically ready to enjoy within a few years of release, while still retaining the age-worthy character that defines great Nebbiolo. The 2023 vintage, represented across our current range, delivered wines with generous red fruit, good concentration and the characteristic floral lift that makes Nebbiolo so distinctive.
Parusso: A Piedmontese Icon
Our selection features the PARUSSO LANGHE DOC NEBBIOLO 2023, crafted by Marco Parusso from his estate in Castiglione Falletto. Parusso is a name that commands genuine respect in the Langhe — a producer whose attention to detail in both vineyard and cellar yields wines of precision and depth. This particular Nebbiolo is fruit-forward on the nose, with notes of Morello cherry, violet and a hint of liquorice, leading to a mouthfeel that is silky yet structured, with well-integrated tannins and a clean, mineral finish. At around 24€ a bottle, it represents serious value for the appellation.
Food Pairing and Serving
Langhe DOC Nebbiolo is a natural companion to the cuisine of Piedmont and beyond. Pour it alongside slow-braised meats, wild mushroom risotto, game birds or a well-aged Parmigiano-Reggiano. Its bright acidity makes it equally at home with rich pasta dishes and tomato-based sauces. Serve at 16–18°C in a generous Burgundy-style glass to allow the aromatics to fully open up. Decanting for 30 minutes will reward patience.
