Nose
Elegant and expressive on the bouquet: toasty vanilla oak, fresh herbaceous nuances, lively citrus zest, and a gently sweet undercurrent of ripe pear and white stone fruit.
Palate
Rich, creamy mouthfeel with a glyceric, almost silky texture balanced by precise, refreshing acidity. Medium-full bodied with well-integrated white fruit and floral notes throughout the mid-palate.
Finish
Long, flavoursome and expressive finish with lingering notes of white peach and ripe apple via the retronasal. The oak and fruit remain in perfect equilibrium well after the last sip.
Serendipia White Chardonnay 2023 from Bodegas de Aylés is a genuinely terroir-driven white wine produced under the Pago de Aylés designation — Aragón's only Vino de Pago and one of the most prestigious single-estate appellations in all of Spain. For those seeking to buy premium Chardonnay from northern Spain online, this is the estate's benchmark white: a wine where varietal character meets the depth of an ancient, storied landscape.
The Chardonnay grapes are harvested at night — a pioneering practice the estate adopted to preserve aromatic integrity and keep the fruit crisp in the warm Aragonese summer. Fermentation begins in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before completing in French oak barrels, where the wine rests on its fine lees for approximately six months. This approach imparts a seamless, creamy mouthfeel and layered complexity without masking the variety's natural vitality. All viticulture has been fully organic since the 2020 vintage, with tightly controlled yields of 34 hectolitres per hectare ensuring genuine concentration.
On the nose, Serendipia opens with inviting intensity: vanilla and toasty oak lead into fresh herbaceous nuances, a lively citrus thread, and a gently sweet undercurrent of ripe pear and white stone fruit. The palate is structured and generous — a rich, almost glyceric texture anchored by precise, food-friendly acidity that keeps everything focused and fresh. The mid-palate delivers white peach and ripe apple notes before a long, flavoursome, expressive finish that lingers beautifully.
A food-friendly white wine from Spain's Pago de Aylés, Serendipia pairs superbly with roasted sea bass, creamy mushroom risotto, pasta dishes with light cream sauces, and young semi-soft cheeses. It also shines as a sophisticated aperitif.
Order Serendipia White Chardonnay 2023 online through Mercado 46 and enjoy European delivery of one of Aragón's most compelling white wines. Age-worthy yet immediately enjoyable, this is premium Spanish Chardonnay at its finest.

The Winery
Founded in 1994
Pago de Aylés is a family-owned winery located in Aylés, Aragon, with a history stretching back to the 12th century, when Cistercian monks began cultivating these lands after receiving them from Alfonso II in 1165. For five centuries, the estate passed through the hands of the Aragonese nobility, with Blasco Fernández de Heredia being the first secular owner. In 1994, the Ramón family acquired and reunified these historic lands, launching an ambitious agri-food project that would transform Pago de Aylés into one of the three largest historic private estates in Aragon, spanning over 3,100 hectares. The winery was inaugurated in 2000, equipped with more than 500 barrels, predominantly French oak. In October 2010, Pago de Aylés was officially recognised as a Vino de Pago, becoming the first Vino de Pago in Aragon and one of the few in Spain to hold this exclusive Denomination of Origin — considered the highest level of quality a Spanish winery can achieve. The estate also produces wines under the DOP Cariñena designation, including the Aldeya and Demba ranges. The winery's philosophy centres on the pursuit of viticultural excellence from vineyard to bottle. They practise sustainable viticulture, currently in the process of organic certification, with yields carefully restricted to 34 hectolitres per hectare. Harvesting takes place at night to preserve the terroir and the full aromatic potential of the grapes. Among the most celebrated wines is «S» de Aylés, a single-varietal Garnacha that was awarded Best Wine of Spain in 2018. Equally remarkable is «L» de Pago, the only rosé Vino de Pago in Spain. The estate also crafts parcel-specific wines such as Senda de Leñadores. Its environmental stewardship has led the European Union to include the estate in the Natura 2000 network as a Special Protection Area for Birds.
