Nose
Ripe peach and green apple lead the bouquet, accompanied by fresh lemon zest and delicate white florals — jasmine and orange blossom — with subtle hints of fresh butter and wet limestone minerality.
Palate
Lush, creamy mouthfeel with layers of candied citrus peel, white mushroom and white tea. Crisp, vibrant acidity provides excellent structural focus, keeping the wine precise and refreshingly taut throughout the mid-palate.
Finish
Long, saline and minerally finish with a distinctive umami quality that lingers with quiet elegance, a hallmark of Chardonnay grown on the Jurassic limestone soils of the Mâconnais.
Trénel Pouilly-Fuissé 2022 is a benchmark expression of white Burgundy from one of the region's most storied négociant houses. Founded in 1928 and now guided by the vision of Michel Chapoutier, Maison Trénel produces this 100% Chardonnay from the limestone and clay soils surrounding the iconic rocks of Solutré and Vergisson — a terroir that consistently delivers wines of exceptional purity and mineral definition.
The 2022 vintage reflects the house philosophy beautifully: minimal intervention, maximum terroir expression. At 13% abv, this is a wine of genuine elegance and precision, showcasing everything that makes Pouilly-Fuissé one of the most sought-after white Burgundy appellations among European wine enthusiasts.
The bouquet is immediately engaging: ripe peach and green apple mingle with fresh lemon zest and white florals — jasmine, orange blossom — underpinned by subtle notes of fresh butter and wet stone. On the palate, the mouthfeel is lush yet focused, offering layers of candied citrus peel, white mushroom and white tea. Crisp, vibrant acidity provides the structural backbone, lifting the mid-palate and keeping the wine refreshingly taut. The finish is long and minerally, with a distinctive saline, umami quality that lingers with quiet authority.
Age-worthy and complex, this wine will reward cellaring for five to ten years, evolving toward hazelnut, honey and white truffle complexity — though it already offers tremendous pleasure in its youthful, fruit-forward state.
At the table, pair it with pan-seared sea bass, grilled scallops with beurre blanc, soft-rind cheeses or a delicate wild mushroom risotto. If you're looking to buy a premium Burgundy Chardonnay online with European delivery, Trénel Pouilly-Fuissé 2022 is an outstanding choice available at Mercado 46.

The Winery
Founded in 1928
Maison Trénel is one of the most iconic wine houses in southern Burgundy, founded in 1928 by Henri Claudius Trénel in Charnay-les-Mâcon. For nearly a century, the maison has upheld an unwavering philosophy: to craft honest wines that faithfully express the character of each plot and the authenticity of its terroir. In 2015, Maison Trénel was acquired by Michel Chapoutier, the renowned winemaking family from the Rhône Valley, becoming part of the Chapoutier group. Under this new stewardship, the maison has deepened its artisanal commitment and its attention to the nuances between individual vineyard sites, bringing its wines to ever greater heights of international recognition. Trénel's work focuses on the Gamay and Chardonnay varieties, the defining grapes of southern Burgundy and northern Rhône. The house is an undisputed reference in Beaujolais, producing no fewer than seven of the ten recognised Beaujolais Crus. Among its most celebrated wines is the Crémant de Bourgogne, sourced from the subregion where Chardonnay finds its finest expression, with a ageing period three times longer than required by the appellation rules. The portfolio also includes Saint-Véran, Mâcon-Charnay Clos de Champgrenon, Viré-Clessé and Morgon, covering a broad spectrum of Burgundian appellations. Beyond its wines, Trénel is also renowned for its artisanal production of Burgundy fruit liqueurs, most notably an exceptional IGP Crème de Cassis widely regarded as one of the finest in the world. Authenticity of fruit, respect for the vineyard and pure expression of origin are the guiding principles behind every wine crafted at Maison Trénel, making it an essential reference for lovers of great Burgundy and Beaujolais.
